The site is located at 2324 Vernsdale Road, approximately 4.5 miles southwest of the City of Rock Hill, South Carolina. The Site consists of approximately 44.5 acres of industrial property on the west side of Wildcat Creek and approximately 108 acres of undeveloped woodland on the east side of Wildcat Creek. The Site was initially used for the storage, treatment and recycling of hazardous waste. The Site later developed into a site for disposing of spent solvents from federal agencies and private third parties. The Site later developed into a fuel blending storage and transfer facility. The owners eventually filed for bankruptcy. South Carolina DHEC (SCDHEC) is the agency responding to the Site; the Site has not been placed on the National Priorities List. Contamination has been identified resulting in cleanup efforts headed by the Philips Services Site Group in partnership with SCDHEC.
